The framework for Early Childhood philosophy and the curriculum is Piaget’s theory. The theory tells us about the development but determines the current cognitive capability and also helps influences what a child is capable to learn when they are at their ECE center. I think this important to understand as an upcoming ECE teacher, as we must understand the individual/s who helped shaped our ECE services to what they are today. (Smith, 1993). • Key Point 2 – Vygotsky’s theory The author discuss that they believe that Vygotsky’s theory is more appropriate then the framework and theory of Piaget. Anne believes that Vygotsky’s theory gives more of a different perspective to the curriculum and that Vygotsky’s theory has value because it shows that children’s intelligence develops the child’s background in their experience in a social context. I think that this is important as it shows that different people have different theories and value and believe different things and as an upcoming ECE teacher it is important for us to keep an open mind to children’s ideas.
