In the book and in the movie 13 going on 30 there are a lot of the same themes, patterns of events, and character types. Before this happened they are talking about Scrooge's deceased friend, Jacob Marley. He was a very good business partner and friend. He was one of his only friends. He is trying to conceal his feelings. ¨Scrooge knew he was dead? Of course he did. How could it be otherwise? Scrooge and he were partners for I don’t know how many years. Scrooge was his sole executor, his sole administrator, his sole assign, his sole residuary legatee, his sole friend, and sole mourner. Ebenezer has traveled to his past and is visiting his old self as a boy. Ebenezer´s sister, Fan, has just come to visit Ebenezer to tell him that soon they may be able to bring him back to their home. "Home, for good and all. Home, for ever and ever. Father is so much kinder than he used to be, that home's like Heaven! He spoke so gently to me one dear night when I was going to bed, that I was not afraid to ask him once more if you might come home; and he said Yes, you should; and sent me in a coach to bring you. And you're to be a man!" said the child, opening her eyes, "and are never to come back here; but first, we're to be together all the Christmas long, and have the merriest time in all the world" (Dickens 22). This is similar to 13 going on 30 because in that movie when Jenna came back to the present after her long journey to see her future self if she continues on the path she is heading on. When she was young she happy and satisfied with her life the same as young Ebenezer. But, as life goes on Scrooge and Jenna began to be more selfish, rude, and impolite. This paragraph has showed the similarities between the movie and book by showing the same themes, patterns of events, and character
