In the movie The Christmas Carol Scrooge was a business man, he was not nice to other people and did not like Christmas since his partner died on Christmas Eve. After he came from work his partner showed up as a ghost and warned him about three spirits that are going to visit him and each spirit shows him the past, present, and future. The spirit of Christmas that affected Scrooge the most were the spirit of Christmas future. Scrooge did not care about any one after his partner died on Christmas Eve. Once his partner visited him he was supposed to be visited by ghost past, present, and future.
In the book “The Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge was a miserable, selfish, lonely person. He had no friends and was cold hearted man and only cared about work and money. For example, Scrooge was a squeezing wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching old sinner(2-3). Ebenezer Scrooge seemed like he would be a bad human bad forever, but somehow with the help with the three ghosts the ghost of the past, present, and future, Scrooge was able to see how terrible he was and how he can change his ways in life to become a better person.
The play “Christmas Carol” includes three spirits that visit Scrooge that change him in some way. The Ghost of Christmas Past, The Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of the Future are all similar because of their main motive, to change Scrooge. For example, Scrooge says “ Remove me! I cannot bear it.” The Ghost of Christmas Past had shown memories that were haunting Scrooge, which Scrooge had tried to forget them in the past.

In the novel A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge is a grump, grouchy, old man who didn’t accept Christmas to be celebrated. According to Scrooge, Christmas was a Humbug. He is visited by three ghosts from his past, present, and Christmas yet to come. They will show Scrooge the things that happened, were happening, and were to come, so maybe he will change his ways. One way the Ghost of Christmas Future is the most transformative is when Scrooge asks ‘ Are these the shadows of things that will be or shadows of things that may be. The modal verbs (May, Will) shows that Scrooge is concerned about the future.

In his home, Scrooge is able to eat whatever his heart desires, while others go hungry. Broad and cozy, Scrooge’s home shelters him from the icy climate. Owning a business, Scrooge has an employee at his feet because of his high rank in society. Like an insect on a leaf, Scrooge has access to an abundance of food, lives in a cozy home, and enjoys a high status in society.
The ghost of Christmas future shows Scrooge what happens after his possible death, and 3 people are seen selling his items that he needed to live and rest. One of the 3 people say ‘he died with no one by his side’ which leads to the fact that Scrooge loves nobody but his coin. The ghost lets Scrooge also see that Tiny Tim has died, significantly telling Scrooge that he has to change or he will die and so will Tiny Tim. However, Scrooge decides to change his ways once and for all, and he finally pledges to be a kind man to others, with no potential signs of threat or vile manners. The whole point of the spirit’s visit was to use the final blow on Scrooge’s Arctic organs and give him a few more scenarios of what happens in the possible future.
After this, The Ghost of Christmas Present shows the mean old man what people who are part of his life are doing on Christmas Eve. Lastly, The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come leads Scrooge to a future Christmas. All these spirits had the power to change Scrooge by using memory, compassion,
Now that Scrooge has seen the future and the consequences of his life. Scrooge realizes that only kindness and goodness will pay off at the end of the road.
