A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens is about Ebenezer Scrooge, an old man, who is well-known for his mean ways. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by a sequence of ghosts, starting with his old business partner, Jacob Marley. Three more spirits visit him, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future, and show Scrooge how his miserly behavior has affected his family and everyone in town. At the end of the story, he is relieved to find that there is still time left for him to change and Scrooge decides it is time to turn into a nice kind-hearted human being. Dickens uses the literary elements of dialogue and mood to teach the reader about bettering yourself.
