In the beginning of the play, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by his old business partner, who has been dead for eight years, Jacob Marley. Marley warns Scrooge that if he does not change Scrooge could end up a tormented spirit like himself. Jacob Marley declares,”I am here tonight to warn you they you have yet a chance and hope of escaping my fate.”Scrooge then learns he is going to be visited by three ghosts in one night, and the chance for his transformation begins. The ghost of Christmas past takes Scrooge to see himself as a young man. The audience has sympathy for Scrooge as a boy left alone at Christmas. His sister Fran comes to bring him home on Christmas and says,”Come home for Christmas.” He wasn’t lonely anymore. After the ghost took him later in the past. He was talking with his fiance. His fiance broke up with him because he he cares about money more than his family and friends,”Goodbye, Ebenezer Scrooge.” It had made him feel bad for himself. …show more content…

The ghost of Christmas present came after he was back in his room. He had a green robe with a staff and they took off to Cratchit's house and saw them get ready to eat. The Cratchit family gave a toast to Scrooge. Scrooge got really sad.
