Economic expansions are the major factors of having a successful civilization. However, there are many other contributing factors that make an ancient civilization influential. The Tang Dynasty was one of the strongest and most important dynasties throughout Chinese history. The Tang Dynasty ruled China from 618 AD to 907 AD. The Tang expanded west almost to Ancient Persia, which means that the area of the Tang Dynasty was bigger than China today. The Tang Dynasty’s historical influence can be observed through aspects such as the Great Man Theory, the art of poetry, and economic expansion.
Great Man Theory is one of the major factors that made the Tang Dynasty one of the most successful dynasties throughout the history of Ancient China. The Silk Road was extremely extensive and went through many major cities known today as Baghdad, Tehran, and Istanbul (Khan). This made the Tang Dynasty have more interactions with other civilizations. In 640, it connected Ancient China to the western world (Khan). This allowed them to trade with many civilizations, such as Rome and Persia (UNESCO). These rich societies would spread their wealth in the forms of steel, copper, tin, gold, glass, and other expensive materials (Khan). This connection was vital for the economy of the Tang, and the wealth and quality of life of its citizens improved quickly. This connects to today because the Silk Road provided trading between many cultures over an extremely long period of time. It increased connectivity and globalization and made international trading today
