Presently, the gardens’ magnificent glory is the site many individuals choose for a wedding. With one of the Wesley family members beginning the tradition in the 1930’s, many tourists, beach-goers, and locals choose Eden as the place to have their best day. One of the largest oak trees on the property appropriately named the “‘wedding tree,’ a Virginia Live Oak, [that] is more than 600 years old,” is the spot many couples choose to recite their vows. Additionally, Eden Gardens promotes education with organizations such as the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance and Northwest Florida State College’s AmeriCorps program. These community organizations established an event that taught students about local aquatic wildlife.
