Edgar Allan Poe is an American writer born on January 19, 1809. He only lived to be forty years old and later passed away on October 7, 1849. Poe is well known for the remarkable work that he had published throughout his short life.
Throughout poes life, he had many stories and poems published. He is now known as one of the greatest poets to live. Poe is well known for his poem "The Raven," "Annabel Lee," and his creepy stories like "The Fall of the House of Usher," and "The Tell-tale Heart." Edgar Allan Poe lived in Baltimore and spent most of his days writing.

In 1836 when he was just 27 years old that Battle of Alamo had begun also. Though a lot of positive and negative stuff was happening in the world during Poes life, he seemed to focus more on his own personal life and experiences that he was facing and going through. His work did take a long time to actually get famous and more well known, but once it was he was known for many things throughout his lifetime, good and bad.
Once Poe was dead, his reputation in the Engish literature was quickly ruined by a man named Rufus Griswold, who had nothing but bad things to say about Poe in his obituary. Griswold quickly made it known to the world that Edgar Allan Poe was nothing but a drunk and a womanizer.
In 1849 on October 9th one of Poe's most famous poems "Annabel Lee" was published. Another one of Poe's most famous pieces of writing was his poem called "The Raven." It was published on January 29, 1845. It is said that Poe got the idea of these two poems from his life experiences. "The Raven," it one of Poes best pieces of literature.
