Dipsomania, or alcohol withdrawl. He had some symptoms of dipsomania such as hallucinations and dilierium however he wouldn't have been able to resist the cravings for the alcohol he was offered in the hospital. He also would of had more symptoms along the lines of paranoia and he would of excerted a state of anxiety and stress. Edgar Allan Poe was born January 19, 1809, Boston, Massachusetts, he was a short-story writer, poet, critic, and editor. Poe was the son of actors, but his father left his family when he was young and his mom followed to die when he was the age of three. After the death of his mother Poe was separated from his siblings and went to live with John and Frances Allan. There he lived on a tobacco farm which was located in Richmond, Virginia which led him to go to the University of Virginia in 1826. While he was in college he found that he couldn’t fully afford it so he picked gambling and ended up in deep debt.
In the text it explains how much of an impact Edgar Allan Poe has had on the pop culture of today. His writings from over 100 years ago has provided inspiration for many things such as films, shows, and novels. Poe’s work was written so long ago that writers today can use it without any problems. His stories are all deep and controversial to this day as they were when first written. Poe’s work has been interpreted in many ways by many people in forms but, and I’m pretty sure it will be like that for a long while.

Additionally, the pictures and themes made by Edgar Allan Poe had a huge impact on the accompanying ages and works of different writers, with the goal that they even moved toward becoming submerged into the pop culture. During this time Edgar Allan Poe was becoming a prosperous writer, two of his most famous works are, “The Raven.” and “The Fall of the House of Usher.”
Edgar Allan Poe’s use of literary devices to show the how fear of the characters in his stories are both helpful and harmful to them. Poe shows how the fears and obsessions of the narrators in his tales either lead to their inevitable death, or their miraculous survival. Edgar Allan Poe uses many literary devices in his texts, such as symbols, ironies, and figurative language, to show the strange and distorted ways of the characters, and the repercussion of their fears and obsessions. In Poe’s stories, a literary device he uses frequently throughout his stories, are symbols.
Pop culture’s undying obsession with Edgar Allen Poe begins by talking about the movie (starred by John Cusack) “The Raven”, stating that Poe has inspired more than just the serial killer of the movie. His references can be seen everywhere. From the NFL to Batman comics to even pro-wrestling. He died long enough ago so that his works are in the public domain. There have been recreations of his work, but they are just the echo but his voice is not truly present in the recreations.

The only way to describe where Poe’s writing belongs in history, would be classified as gothic genre. From the start of the 1800’s to present day and the future of literature, through irony, repetition, imagery, and symbolism Poe has been bewitching readers with his gore and insane writings. When Edgar was a child, his mother passed away, and his dad left soon after. Poe did receive a foster mother, but she passed away later as well. When Edgar was eighteen years of age, he left to go to Boston and made his first collection of poems. Poe was still very depressed from his foster mother 's death and attended therapy.
