242 Words1 Pages
In the poem, Alone, written by the wonderful Edgar Allan Poe, the theme of loneliness is greatly expressed and the mood of sadness is also expressed. The first example is when the poem states, “As others were -- I have not seen, As others saw -- I could not bring,” (Poe 2-3). During this part of the poem Edgar is explaining how he did not have the same experience that other kids his age had received, and this may all be due to the fact that he was alone for most of his life because he had been abandoned and didn 't have the normal childhood that others his age had received. The second example is when the text implies, “And all I lov’d -- I lov’d alone --,” (Poe 8). Edgar expresses in this that he had always felt alone and he had to love alone.
