The death of edgar allan poe may always be a mystery. The theories behind the case range from alcohol to murder. I believe that Mr. poe died from rabies because he showed many physical signs, signs in his mentality, and he had exposure to the world where he could have been affected. To start off, Edgar Allan Poe likely had rabies due to him showing physical signs. The first piece of evidence supporting the theory is that Poe had hydrophobia. The ability not being able to drink water is a symptom of the disease. Another piece of evidence is that he was diagnosed with a brain lesion, yet another symptom of rabies. The last piece for the physical symptoms is that he became very agitated, aggressive, and angry. All three of these pieces explain how he could been showing physical signs of the disease. There are no reports of him having any bite marks of him but there is more ways of getting the illness. Firstly reports did say that he did have a scar on his shoulder, letting the theory have a stronger hold on his death. There is a different way of letting the disease entering your body, through saliva. Letting the saliva of an infected animal or human get in contact with an open wound, the disease in now present on or in the body. SEcondly, When the moment the new host is infected, rabies can take years or days to become present. This explains the theory that Mr. poe could have been infected years ago.
