Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer, critic, and editor, famous for his short stories and poems of horror and mystery. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on the 19th of January, in the year 1809. Poe’s father and mother, who were professional actors, passed away before Poe was three years old. John Allan, a fruitful tobacco merchant, and his wife Frances Allan raised Poe as their adoptive child in Richmond, Virginia.
