I think Edgar Allan Poe is a great horror writer. I believe this because of his poems, “The Tale-Tell Heart”, “The Raven” and many others that have good writing that captures the reader’s attention and fear. For example in the “Tale-Tell Heart” this line “True!-nervous-very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am! ,” is one that makes some readers scared or send chills up their spines. I probably would read more of Poe’s work because he is a great writer that gives readers a great clear image of the events in his stories.
He was one to build on the idea of horror and expand the concept of it. Many of Poe’s works are still available today, and his poems are still some of the most famous around. Not only is Poe’s works some of the best anyone has ever seen, the message he leaves everyone with is astonishing. His tragic early life was the main cause of his affection for horror.
