I am writing in response to the call for a student intern team for the Edge Hill University Press. Undertaking a creative writing degree as a mature student has required me to have a strong idea of what I hope to achieve from the course and where I hope it will enable career prospects. As such, I have desired and focussed on being involved within the literary field as a profession for a long time. It is one of my greatest aspirations to work within the publishing industry as an editor. This opportunity would provide me with further insight into what is expected of an editor and what goes into putting together a publication. Additionally, it would be an invaluable experience. I believe that I possess a respectable deal of insight into what makes a piece of writing effective and what weighs it down as I am an avid, to the point of obsessive, reader and learner. I thoroughly enjoy helping to shape and bring out the full potential of a piece of writing and I strive hard to nurture a writer’s work and aid their success. As a writer myself, I take influence from everything that I engage with and take it upon myself to enhance my knowledge on any subjects of interest. Incorporated also were related courses, such as students of English Literature and Language. The workshops became a valuable resource for the students, as well as myself, and has instilled a greater urge to develop the experiences and skills I gathered further. In the last year I have also undertaken the proof reading and editing of two novellas and various singular pieces of writing for friends and associates. All of these experiences have proved value assets to my editorial skills and my own
