Many high school students dread the thought of reading the “classics” because they feel the novels are “irrelevant” to their lives today. There are many different tools available to teachers today that they can use in their classroom to keep children engaged in the “classics.” One piece of literature many students hate reading is Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Effective teaching is a result of many factors, but to be a passionate teacher takes a more time and effort within the classroom. The use of technology is ever growing today and rather dismissing it, I would incorporate it into many of my lessons to keep the children engaged. Romeo and Juliet, expresses many different issues and topics any young teenager can relate to today.
