After World War II, American society changed dramatically. One change was the GI Bill. This bill provided for veterans after the war. The benefits to this bill was low-cost mortgages, low-interest loans to start a business, cash payments for college, and one year of unemployment compensation. Another change was the population shift.
In America’s past events there are many moments in which were impactful to this country’s history. One of the most impactful eras would have to be World War II and the 1940s. The growth of technology through atomic bombs leaving an impact on America’s view in modern times for future events and political events such as GI Bill of Rights to help veterans with certain programs when they come home from a war that continues to be used today. As well as issues of race and gender were faced with women and African Americans working in which influenced the working environment today. Comparing all the eras that were discussed, the least impactful era was during the 1970s.
An example to how The WWI affected the U.S., is how the war created a domino affect on the civilians and people of the land. For instance, a large number of America's men were serving abroad in the war, and along these lines not able to maintain their occupations in the manufacturing plants. With a specific end goal to fill the opportunities, organizations permitted ladies to work in already male just employments. Ladies started rushing to processing plants, and working in commercial enterprises with a specific end goal to bolster their families while their male relatives were away at war. During the Civil Rights era, segregation and discrimination were common prejudicial treatment of black people in America. Some people accepted this unfair treatment, while others fought for equality. The Tuskegee Airmen were a group that were strongly devoted to having equality in gender opportunities. Also is Jackie Robinson, one person from this era that had a great deal of influence on racial equality.
Whites did not feel that was fair and believed that their justice system was against them because they ruled in favor of the African Americans. They still treated African Americans like they were beneath them. As for the progress that women made by 1877, people finally accepted the fact that women deserved the same amount of fair treatment as men. They were able to vote and hold office, they had rights to own her own business and earning. They simply could prevail if she no longer wanted to be married and she had a child she could fight for custody and have a chance to win.
Throughout American history, minorities have been discriminated against for numerous things relating to race, gender, religion, etc. One group that was discriminated around the time of the Civil War were the Blacks. Throughout American history, they were thought of as inferior to whites and treated like animals. After the Civil War, laws started to change in favor of Blacks, things like making it illegal to enslave them, making them citizens and giving them the right to vote. These laws didn’t eliminate discrimination, though, and failed to change the opinion of what most thought of the Blacks.
Relations with China worsen and Armed forces were racially integrated. Military increase worldwide relations with Japan improved. Future presidents were able to send military into combat without World War II was a leading cause for the Civil rights Movement. African Americans were denied housing in neighborhoods and only offered low-paying jobs. The little Rock Nine weren’t allowed to enter the school.
Some things that changed were that women had gained the right to vote, women held more jobs, and the great migration. In 1919 women got the right to vote, because of the ¾ vote from states, women felt they had more of a say in society due to men being at war. Essay Do you know about the changes to daily American life during World War II? Life in America changed greatly during World War II as the nation organized to aid in the war effort. The importance of providing assistance and resources to the armed forces and to the Allies, along with the need to keep morale and efficiency at home, served as the motivation for the reforms.
The author develops the idea that World War Two created a positive change in the United states quite well. First, the author states that "The economy got a huge boost from all of this wartime production. Because of the increased employment opportunities, Americans who had been struggling since the Great Depression finally enjoyed a high standard of living again." Though that is a very long quote, it really does show how much the war had a positive impact on america. On the other hand, the author states that there were some poor effects that the war had on the country.
Despite that racial segregation in public schools became unconstitutional due to the notable Brown vs. Board of Education court case in 1954, that was merely the beginning of the transformation of American society and acceptance. Subsequently, the new racial movement allowed other minorities to have the courage to defend their civil rights. This was not only a historical moment for minorities, but for women as well. Women, regardless of race, revolted against oppression and traditions. To be politically correct was now discretional.

One would think that by now in 2016, the United States would be the land of equal opportunity, but sadly America is still trapped in time in the 1850s. The 1850s was the period of Reconstruction when African Americans were supposedly given their freedom. Although African Americans were given freedom, they still were not given the same equality as whites. They were treated differently than the whites. Laws in the southern states kept the African Americans from growing economically, socially and educationally.
World War 2 and its Effect on American Society The 1930’s witnessed the rise of aggressive, totalitarian regimes. After World War 1, Germany became a fascist state under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, Mussolini started to gain political control of Italy, and Imperial Japan became ever more aggressive to its Asian neighbors. This was all leading up to a global conflict. With Germany invading Poland in 1939, the world was again in a state war.
