In a post-classical period in China, the legal systems and social hierarchies were separated into different kingdoms. The social hierarchies caused by the separation caused establishment of the legal system that impacted many lives in China.
During 589 CE to 618 CE, it was the time of Wendi and his son, Yangdi. Wendi wanted the separated kingdoms of China to reunite and allowed the foreign people to participate in the government as well, in the attempt to rid of intensity between the people. During the Sui dynasty, the social hierarchy was strictly separated, of Emperor, military, artisans, and peasant farmers. Wendi was a rigid ruler who, in order to please and gain support from the lower class people, lowered taxes and developed more favorable laws. Wendi continued ruling in China, until he was overthrown by his son, Yangdi. Yangdi was a more benevolent ruler, who composed Confucian teachings into his legal system. Yangdi completed scholar and legal reforms during his times, but he was extremely lavish. He spent too much much on extravaganza which upset the peasant farmers. During the Sui dynasty, even though there were many distinct social classes, emperor Wendi created legal system about the bureaucracy in order to unify people together. During the Tang dynasty, Li Yuan actually increased the different social class through laws. He created a legal system of civil exams, which divide the people into different classes with different privileges.
