When resources are distributed unevenly, through allocations, things that lead to socially defined people in society in terms of categories. Whilst great strides have been made in addressing social inequality in South Africa over the past 21 years, it is evident that social inequality is still prevalent in our country. South Africa is truly one of a kind in many aspects of its society. It is home to some of the most diverse traditions, religions and even races. Some might even go as far as to say that directly after it had achieved independence the following years it had the fastest development of its society in the world. Before 1994 such social inequalities were as a direct result of the policies of the political regime which held power over an extended period of time. Through formal policies which clearly restricted education, opportunities and resources for a defined section of society the imbalance was perpetuated through generations. There has been far too much inequality in recent times to suggest that there will be a calm after this storm. Despite the new dispensation the majority of adult South Africans from a defined sector of society remain disadvantaged through the previously orchestrated lack of education. The South African government has not brought about meaningful change in the lives of ordinary South African citizens. Radical elitism plays an important role in the inequality of South Africa. Education is key to making this transition, but there is a lack of proper education at the moment. The gap between these two sectors will keep on growing if the problem is not addressed and fixed in the coming years.
