Slavery has existed in all parts of the globe for many,many years. The most prominent slave trade was the African slave trade in the Atlantic world which had occurred from the 1550’s to the 1850’s and had good effects for the american europeans but devastating effects for the Africans and natives of north and south America.

The African slave trade was really started when europeans colonized america.There appetite for conquest,gold and land was the driving force to why they settled the americas,which would ultimately end up with slavery. The needed a strong workforce to grow food and do other farm work. The demand for sugar and slaves helped trigger the Triangular trade system. This involved manufactured goods being traded in Africa in exchange for slaves. Which were sold in the west indies and america. Then, that’s where the sugar was traded and distributed back to africa and europe,where the cycle started back again. The impact slavery had on trade was enormous, and without slavery there wouldn't have been a triangular trade and the economy in the americas would have been of a lot lesser value, if any at all.Although slavery greatly helped the Americas and the caribbean, it devastated the Africans and changed the world in a very bad way …show more content…

Most slaves died due to disease or other complications. It was a long journey across the Atlantic ocean and that was almost as bad as when they actually got the the americas.Not only that but when they got to the americas they had to live in harsh conditions . They were also forced to live in tiny huts and lived on little food or water. There was task labor and gang labor, which task labor was where slaves had a certain task to do that day. If the completed that task early they didn't have to work the rest of the day.This was commonly used on small farms that grew tobacco. Then there was gang labor. This was your typical type of slavery on big plantations,which involved lots of people doing dawn until dusk work was very intense and sometimes slaves were worked to death under this system.This was the common form of slavery in much of the the southern states. Not only did slaves have to endure daily work with little to no breaks,(unless you were working in task labor) They suffered beatings and most often had their families separated. Not only did they have to live a harsh life, there was little or no way of getting out of slavery,and their kids were forced to be slaves too. The effect slavery had on the Africans was very large and it resulted in many
