Egypt Ancient Egypt was considered as a civilization. In fact, Ancient Egypt is believed to be one of the most impressive civilizations formed thousands of years ago. Ancient Egyptians had a social structure, religion, and striking art and technology, and of course more. These things prove Ancient Egypt as a civilization. To describe the social structure of Ancient Egypt, a pyramid could be used to help visualize it. At the top of the pyramid were the gods. The Egyptians leaders, called pharaohs, were believed to be gods. Below the pharaohs came the nobles and priests. They basically worked for the pharaohs. Priests were responsible for making the gods happy and performed rituals and ceremonies. Then after the nobles and priests were the merchants, scribes, and artisans. Merchants, traveled to other nearby countries to trade goods. Scribes were the only people that could read and write, their responsibility was to keep records. Artisans made things by hand, such as jewelry, engravings, monuments and more. At the bottom of the pyramid were the peasants. They were the largest group and their job was to work the lands.
