Blake W-Mesopotamia vs. Egypt Mesopotamia and Egypt are two of the most flourished societies in the ancient world. They had many similarities when it comes to socially and geography despite having completely different political systems. The biggest comparison between these two is the way their political systems worked so differently. Egypt had one ruler for their entire kingdom while Mesopotamia had different rulers with different beliefs in every city-state. These two societies helped establishing later civilizations with important inventions and advancements in metallurgy. The Mesopotamians invented the wheel which led to an increase in supplies and weapons. There influence impacted the world helping other civilizations expand and grow economically. They both traded with each other and other civilizations which benefitted both ancient civilizations greatly. These two societies political ways varied between a Pharaoh in Egypt and small city-state kingdoms with a variety of rulers. Egypt was more united and centralized than Mesopotamia which had many different forms of government for example the Sargon built the first military powered empire while Hammurabi made strict laws that …show more content…

It was more difficult for the Mesopotamians due to the fact that they were surrounded by other small kingdoms that invaded each other often. The also had a complex system of irrigation canals that helped them when the rivers flooded. Egypt was more isolated and less vulnerable due to the nile river, seas, and the sahara desert that surrounded them. Although Nubia did invade them multiple of times. Both societies knew how to use their rivers effectively and used the floodings soil to grow crops and created surplus of food which led to a rapid increase in population. There integration with the environment are the most they have in common due to the fact they strived near a river with complex irrigation
