In “Eleanor Roosevelt’s Speech on the UDHR” by Eleanor Roosevelt, the purpose of the speech is to persuade the Soviet Union to accept the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.On September 28, 1948 Eleanor Roosevelt gave her speech on the UDHR and made it very clear that every man deserves a moral freedom. To prove her argument she pulls a quote from Gladstone Murray which says “ The central fact is that man is fundamentally a moral being, that the light we have is imperfect does not matter so long as we are always trying to improve it… we are equal in sharing the moral freedom that distinguishes us as men” (pg 3 pa.14).This quote from Gladstone Murray shows that her main point is that every man deserves to have freedom.
