Founded in 1946 as Anthem Inc. and a Fortune 500 organization (20th rank in 2022), Elevance Health is one of the largest health benefits companies in the United States. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, the company serves more than 118 million people and has a workforce of 98,000 people. In 2004, Anthem Inc. and its affiliated company Wellpoint Health Networks merged to create the nation’s leading health benefits company and provide the opportunity to offer more value to the members.
