Memories are the faculty by which the mind stores and remembers information. Memories help shape and fold the way we live and experience certain things that occur in our lives. I believe that memories help people in their efforts to las from the past and succeed in the present. Memories occur from experiences in your life and things you’ve done. This is beneficial because it could help you to better judge a future scenario and make better decisions in the future. For example, let’s say you have a huge test coming up, but the weekend before the test there’s a big party coming up. You know that you should be taking time to study, but instead you spend the entire weekend out preparing yourself for this party. You go back into school, and you flunk the test. You can take out of this experience that you should better manage your time, and dedicate part of your weekend to studying. …show more content…

Eli Wiesel was a survivor of the holocaust who wrote about his experience in a book called Night. He describes everything he witnesses, from people he once was friends with dying in the gas chambers, to working strenuous hours without food and water, and so much more. Upon leaving the concentration camp, Eli Wiesel was not held down by these gruesome memories. Instead, he challenged his emotions into writing, and by writing his book, he spread awareness of what life was like firsthand under the hands of horrific power, and he shined a light on the extent that racism could have in this
