Elon Musk is visionary billionaire entrepreneur who currently runs two companies’ that combined have 35,000 employees. His current companies include Tesla, which is an automaker that creates energy efficient vehicles, and his other company Space X is an aerospace startup that is making huge waves in the industry. His goals are to create a carbon emissions free earth and to ultimately colonize Mars. He has taken major risks and works more then most would be capable of or desire too. The extreme lengths he goes too and unbelievable products have lead him to become a great leader. Elon Musk has struggled on his path of being a CEO and did not always embody the ideal leader. He has had a difficult time with his communication skills over the years. According to the author of his biography,Ashelle Vance (2017)“He seems to feel for the human species as a whole without always wanting to consider the wants and needs of individuals”(p.56). Musk is extremely blunt and can offend people with his lack of communication skills. His main priority is the task at hand and focusing on the timeline. He is constantly taking risks that people find impossible. He believes in doing something with half the efforts that it takes other companies and half the cost. Many people criticized Musk when creating his electric car company known as Tesla. They believed that he would not be able to create an affordable electric battery because they have always been known to be expensive. He challenged these ideas and went to work.
