Elvis Aaron Presley, born on January 8, 1935, was a well known American singer and actor; he was also widely referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll.” Presley was one of the first musicians to play a mixture of country and rock and roll, which was later called “rockabilly” music. He also created one of the first popular rock and roll songs. Some of Presley’s most famous works consist of “It’s Now or Never,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Rock a Hula Baby/Can’t Help Falling in Love.” However, Elvis’s first No.1 hit was “Heartbreak Hotel,” which was released during 1955.
During his early years, Presley grew oddly attached to his mother, as he was an only child. Unfortunately, his identical twin brother, Jesse Garon Presley, was delivered stillborn 35 minutes prior to Elvis’s birth. Many people assumed this to be a media event, and greeted him as soon as he landed in Arkansas. He continued basic training in Fort Hood, Texas. Unfortunately, he had to declare an emergency leave due to his mother falling ill with hepatitis. He arrived in Memphis on August 12, and his mother died two days later. Presley was devastated, as he had an extremely close relationship with his mother. They even had nicknames for each other and talked in baby talk. Elvis filmed in a show entitled “Aloha from Hawaii,” and passed away shortly after, on August 16, 1977. His cause of death was said to be a heart attack, which many assume to be correlated to drug abuse.
In conclusion, Elvis Presley was not only an amazing musician and actor, but also proved his “all-American” title to be true when he showed his patriotism by joining the military. Although he was bullied in school, Presley remained a “mama’s boy” his whole life. His impact on music would have an everlasting effect on both the rock and roll and country
