The application of Feminist theory to the life and poetry of Emily Dickinson’s “I’m wife−I’ve finished that” illustrates the expansive nature of critical thinking that renders the proximate nature of cultures that otherwise seem distant in time and space. Emily Dickinson write a poem based on her own experience because she is in charge of her ailing parents (Phillips 20). In Emily Dickinson’s poem titled “I’m wife−I’ve finished that”, Emily Dickinson not only illustrate and redraw the life of a girl and a woman comparation, but also illustrate the transformation from a girl into a woman. Emily tells how does it feel to become a girl, to become a woman and to become a woman and wife. By definition, Czar is an emperor or king. In different meaning, king or emperor also symbolize full of self-control, achievement, success and accomplishment (Cirlot 168). That is what Emily wants to describe her state as of passing a girl stage. Emily reveal the thought that when a girl going into a marriage, it means that she already accomplished the goal in her life. The quotation marks on the word “woman” significant as Emily want to emphasize that she has reached the point where she become a woman and a wife. As a wife, two things that woman can do are they can do whatever they want to do and have full control of themselves. It does not look like a stage before that, a girl stage, which is full of restriction and limited self-control. The reason why it is limited is because of the parents. A girl usually does not allowed by her parents to do a dangerous thing such as hiking because the parents are worried about their children safety.
