Breaking Through the Wall of Fear with a Hammer of Talents
Sixteen-year-old junior, Emily Hamilton, with talents in art, music, and writing, plans to clench her fear of failure by taking the risk of going into the science-medical field in a setting where people will value her intelligence, capabilities, and hard-work. Her life consists of a bundle of talents that are affected by her fear of failure. However, with her love for knowledge and the support of family and teachers, she intends of over looking the heart-wrenching feeling of fear by persevering through with her talents. As she progresses through life, she will include her talents as personal hobbies as she continues learning and experiencing life.

I know, without my hard work, I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today, and I do—I do a lot, and I spread myself out. Im a jack of all trades, a master of none. I— I don’t have anything mastered. I probably never will, but uh…, I definitely value handwork because hard-work trumps talent. You have to have hard work for your talents, to make yourself better anyway.
Yet, even as an accomplished artist, student, and musician she still faces the largest goal blocker, fear. The fear of failing. Her fear is a heart wrenching feeling, a stabbing in the chest pierces her confidence that makes her feel like a nobody.
Emily shrinks by the question of fear, suddenly closing her arms and searching the room for an answer. “My whole life, I’ve just be trying to make myself better, you-know, growing as a person and then growing in my talents- such as music and art, and, uh… If I fail, then, then, I just… it will destroy the, I feel like the the only happiness that I really get is from myself, which is myself being happy with my abilities. So, if i fail, that, I mean, thats my biggest fear. “
Meanwhile, in fighting through her fear of failure, Emily turns towards family, passions, and teachers for their advice and help. She leans on them at times to find relations and a way to

“I really want to get out of Louisiana because I’ve been here my entire life and.. i hate it. So, thats pretty blunt. Intelligence is not, you know; Im not seen as intelligent here. I-I wouldn’t be here unless I could change it. Um…, but besides that, I mean, I do value my home but besides that, I would like to see myself successful, you know. Enjoying the profession I’m in and enjoying maybe the person that I’m with and where I’m at. I mean, Ive always wanted to be an astronaut.
