Eminem also known as Marshall Mathers or Slim Shady. Born in Missouri on October 17, 1972 but, he was raised here in Michigan. Marshall grew up in Detroit where he started his rap/hip-hop career. He is an icon for many teen and kids around the world. He puts his feelings into his music and many kids and teens can relate to what he is saying in his music. Eminem’s album Recovery is based on his life and the many struggles he went through. He talks about how he’s been bullied in school and what has happened in his life. During his childhood he would move schools at least 2-3 times a year because his mother couldn’t hold a job for more than a several months. Eminem says that he’s been seen as an outcast in his schools and had been beaten up and shoved into lockers. Going to Lincoln High School in the town of Warren, Michigan he had failed his 9th grade year 3 times. When Eminem turned 17 he dropped out of school and began to work on music. Through his teenage years he was able to release all of his anger and emotions through music and express his passion for language as well. Throughout the years his music has helped many people and children around the world. He may not have had a great childhood, but at least he can make some of ours better. Eminem’s emotions that he puts into his songs, many people can relate to. Through his years of life it hasn’t been easy, but he didn’t give up on it. He continued to push through his rough times and expressed himself through the music he wrote. No matter how hard he struggled he still tried, and that’s what really matters in life.
