“What was done to Emmett Till was a crime against humanity,” Paul Johnson, a co-director of the Cold Case Justice Initiative at Syracuse University. Emmett a 14-year-old African American boy was murdered for talking to a white woman and suffered even greater injustice and death. during the trial, an all-white jury had more than enough evidence to put the murderers away but decided to rule the murderers not guilty.
Emmett was murdered on August 28th, Pulled out of bed, A local farmer saw him in a car with four white people and two African American men. He was thrown into the Tallahatchie river but before that, he was tortured and beaten, and even got his ear was shot off. The men tied barb wire around his throat and tied to an industrial fan then thrown into the river where the final cause of death was drowning. his trial was governed by an all-white jury and a white judge which caused an uproar around the country. Due to this fad the white men were found not guilty, saying they could not identify the body found in the Mississippi River, The men who killed Emmett Till confessed to murdering Emmett after the trial was over.
