Emotional Death
“I was afraid of finding myself alone that evening, how good it would be to die right here”(Wiesel, 76). In this book “Night” by Elie Wiesel, Elie has witnessed and faced a lot and so have the people he knew and cared about. So of those people are emotionally dead because of the tragedy that's going. This theme connects to real life situations today because people are losing families from attacks from other countries and now don’t show any emotion. There is nothing worst than losing a loved one or loved ones through a tragedy and you now have no emotion for anything or anyone.
One example is, when Moishe tries to convince people to leave before the Nazis come. Moishe doesn’t care about life anymore because no one want’s to listen to anything he says to them. “Life? I no longer care to live”(Wiesel,7). Moishe thought there was no longer any reason to have joy for anything anymore. This relates to today because of “Paris Attacks” no one feels safe anymore because the attacks keep happening. In conclusion Moishe feels the need to live is no longer a choice for him.

“She smiles despite her thin left leg that will not fully straighten, and despite the prominent vivid scar that runs down her forehead from the hairline to just above the right eyebrow.And she smiles even though she - like her country - will forever be affected by the earthquake that destroyed so many lives”(Matthew Price). The significance of this quote is that as this girl smiles, behind it is her being emotionally dead because of the earthquakes that have been wounding her and other people.
