ate Chopin's "Story of an Hour", tells the story of a woman trapped in a repressive marriage, who wants desperately to escape. She is given that chance, but only for a short moment. The story tells of the hour in which this freedom is given her, and also tells about what is going through her mind, while believing, she was free at last. Although, the story is very short, she makes the listeners believe she is relieved to hear her husband had passes, but the end of the story switches up emotions and makes you question which emotion was really the right one. Mrs. Mallard was young, with a fair and calm face, and spoke with strength in her voice. The fact that she is referred to only as "Mrs. Mallard", while her husband's full name is given, paired up with what we learn on the second page. Mallard wept and with a storm of grief went away to her room alone, and would have no one follow her. She sat facing a window, in an armchair, and sank. All of her physical exhaustion was haunting her body. She felt it go deep, down into her soul. Mrs. Mallard sat with her head back and didn’t move, until a sob came into the back of her throat and shook her. Mrs. Mallard sat, waiting fearfully for something, but she didn’t know what. While waiting, she cleared her mind and whispered though her parted lips, “free, free, free!” After she realized what she had said, her eyes got bright and warm blood ran throughout her whole body. She didn’t stop herself from thinking it was not a tremendous feeling of joy. Mrs. Mallard new she would cry again when she saw her dead husband lying grey, and tender hands folded. But, she saw beyond that, and was thinking of the many years to come, and she would greet them with great joy! She realized she would start living for herself, with no more men telling her what to do and when to do
