All I Want Is Power and an Empire Televised series such as Empire and Power, have widely become popular in our youth and it’s no secret that they correspond in several ways. Empire is an American drama based on a hip-hop entrepreneur, Luscious, who started his own record label company under illegal drug money. As a young juvenile, Luscious devoted his life to running the streets and producing music. His mission is to bolster the Empire he created, but during this process, there are prisoners, old street thugs, the wealthy, and even family eager to take it all down. Power is a drama series as well, and is based on a drug-dealer named James, otherwise known as "Ghost." Ghost is a current drug dealer, in hopes of becoming "clean." He does this …show more content…

In Empire, the protagonist is Luscious Lyon. He is a young black male, who was raised in the streets of Philly. Because Luscious grew up in this setting, he trained himself up to be a well-respected figure on the block. Everyone who is familiar with Luscious, rarely attempts to cross him, because of his actions and raw evidence that exhibit “Mr. Lyon doesn’t play nice.” For instance, when Luscious’ intuition told him a man named Bunkie, who is his wife’s cousin, could possibly reveal his secret to the world; he took matters into his own hands with no remorse. Luscious shot Bunkie, blew his brains out, and forswore about it the following day. In Power, James is not so different. He is a young black male, whose name is also honored in the streets of Manhattan. His nickname “Ghost” was given to him because he’s slicker than an icy patch. The minute Ghost believed one of his closest lifelong friends may have been behind all the attacks occurring in the streets; he acted in the same manner Luscious would have. He shot his friend, and went about his day like it never happened. It’s safe to say that these two characters probably do not have a rueful bone anywhere in their
