She did so many tremendous things, influenced so many people, and made such a big impact in the music industry. Selena mainly focused on Mexican music when she first started. She did not always stick to her Mexican culture and Mexican music though. This is the story and background of Selena Quintanilla-Perez.
Jose Doroteo Arango Arambula also known as Francisco Villa or as we know him Pancho Villa was born June 5, 1878 and was one of the most important Mexican Revolutionary general in Mexico. Pancho Villa was born Doroteo Arango, the son of a sharecropper at the hacienda in San Juan Del Rio, Durango. While growing up, Pancho Villa witnessed and experienced the harshness of peasant life. In Mexico during the late 19th century, the rich were becoming richer by taking advantage of the lower classes, often treating them like slaves. When Villa was 15, his father died, so Villa began to work as a sharecropper to help support his mother and four siblings.
The famous Tejano Queen, Selena Quintanilla-Perez, was born in Houston, Texas on April 16, 1971. Selena was involved in the music industry from a very early age because her family was struggling to find a way to get by. Selena started off singing with her siblings, calling themselves, “Selena y Los Dinos”. Quickly Selena’s music career started taking off and soon enough Selena became known all over the United States as the Queen of Tejano music. Selena was murdered on March 31, 1995 by one of the members of her fan club.
The most popular dishes included chili, beans, and tortillas, sometimes even put together. Dishes also included tacos, fajitas, burritos, stuffed chili peppers, chorizo, churros, enchiladas, salsa, pico de gallo, nachos, and guacamole (Nenes 258). Different kinds of sauces and beans were cooked to go with the main dishes. Braised, ground, barbequed, and shredded meats were common to find in the main dishes like tacos and fajitas. Flour tortillas were used mostly and a blend of chesses were used.
In my scholarly project, I want to write a research paper on Mexican corridos (ballads). Although corridos are very influential in the Hispanic (Mexican) population today, some people still sing along to the music without knowing what it means or what it’s trying to convey. My goal is to help people understand what Mexican corridos are, and answer questions like what do performers try to convey through this music? How have Mexican corridos changed throughout the years? What influenced corridos to change (if they did change)?

He travels the world exploring different countries and cities, in search of discovering new cultures, different lifestyles, and of course the food these places bring. Traveling to places such as Morocco, Cuba, and Jerusalem, Anthony dives right into the culture and politics of each country while being served the incredible and uncanny foods of the world. The true identity of the series is to use food as a gateway to show how astonishing and breathtaking the world truly is.

For me, a true Mexican Taco consists of meat, corn tortillas, and condiments like onions, lime, cilantro, maybe chiles, and either a special green or red sauce (salsa). Now, you may ask, how did this famous dish came to be about? Well that’s where it becomes interesting; tacos were made as a way to make money in Mexico which lead to the spread of this cuisine from Latin American to the United States and caused a modification in the cuisine in order to fulfill other cultures in their preferences. For instance, I’ve visited Guerrero, Mexico twice; one time alone and the second time with my sister and my cousins. The first night I got to Mexico it was dark, and the only “stores” open at 8pm or 9pm were “Taquerias” or Mexican restaurants.
Hispanic and American Food Traditions The type of food that we eat is influenced by the countries and people that were once settled down in the land that we live on. Those from the past generation help influenced the way that we live and the food that we eat. Each region has their very own dishes of food that represent their uniqueness and own touch of their country.
