The End Starts With Us Civil rights activist Rosa Parks once said, “Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall overcome.” Rosa Parks realized that it is up to us to shape the minds of the future generations, to eventually overcome the discrimination against race. As part of this generation, it is our job to help shape the future into a place where racism is no longer an issue. Kindness is key when dealing with race relations. Just like in our kindness factor lesson, helping and being kind to others causes a chain reaction. I, with the help of others, could set this trend for many people. Showing kindness for different races isn't hard; it would not only make you feel good about yourself, but also let different races feel as if they are cared for. Also by being kind to people of a different race, you set a good example for younger children. As they watch the kind exchange, they grow up to be just as caring and accepting of all people. Almost fifty percent of adolescent teens have reported being discriminated against because of their race or ethnicity. There are many people who suffer from bullying, and most of the time, others stand by a let it happen without saying anything to the bully. Being ashamed of myself that I have stood by and let someone get bullied because of their race, motivates me even more to take a stand. By taking a stand you not only set the example for others, but could also gain another friend. Standing up to bullies for someone can show how accepting you are of the racial diversity.
