Unit of Study: The purpose of this unit plan is to teach science concepts through a interactive and constructive approach, individually and in collaborative groups about the stages of a plants life cycle and the parts themselves as well as the season they develop. Students will understand the life cycle concepts by raising an organism investigating there needs and behaviors. Throughout all lessons there is scaffolding differentiation to meet every student’s needs with visual, audio, tactile, kinesthetic, and multi- hands on activities. Observation will also be taking into consideration.
Skilled and knowledge based concepts are learned so students can differentiate between various types of plants.
Engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and

Common Core State Standards, ELA
MA-A 1 1.With prompting, guidance and support, ask and answer questions in order to seek help, and get information about key details in a text.
National Art – Creating, use variety of art making tools.
Common Core State Standards, Mathematics
K.OA-1 Representing addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental images, drawing, sounds, acting out situations, verbal explanations, expressions, or equations.
K.CC – Compare numbers. Identify whether the number of objects in one group greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group. (e.g., by using matching and counting strategies)
What do we want to learn? (Essential Question and Anchor Activity)
Students will learn the life cycle, and the parts of an Apple, Pumpkin, and leaves.
What is a seed? What does it need to grow? What are the main parts of these plants? What are the important factors of the plants life cycle?
Students will put together a college diagram of an apple as well as a taste test.
Student will predict what happens when you combine the colors yellow and red together for painting there leaves that they collect on their

Identify and label parts of a plants life cycle
Reflect on their observations as well as others with formulating their own and group critique hypothesis
Identify and analyze what are the important factors of the plants life cycle?
Students will watch a time laps video that illustrates the major stages of plant growth.
Know: What are the basics? Students need to know the vocabulary: seed, skin, core, flesh, leaf, stem, tree as it applies to each plant.
Students need to know in which season they grow and what is needed for the seeds to become a organism. Technology: Smartboard- Students will come to the board and label the life cycle of the plants and circle nutritional words that it will need to grow, (air, water, sunlight)
Art/Movement Integration:
Students will form a apple from pre-cut craft paper parts that they put together in numeric order to complete a apple. Students will pre-form a taste test of three different apples for comparison of the apple parts. Taste test will consist of texture, feel, smell and taste. I will have a display of a real apple and its
