English 1101 has taught me a lot of key points to improving my writing as a writer. It taught me different format of writing an essay and improve my writing, especially my style and sentence mechanism. In my early days as a college student, I wanted to know the "true" meaning of a work or what the author intended, however, I have now realized this would void literature of its most noteworthy complexities. Individual interpretations bring varied insights into a work and it is also interesting to point out messages the author may not have realized s/he included in the piece. I was able to benefit from a variety of new things from the class, as well as refresh my memory on things that I already knew, just needed a reminder about.

cause and effect or persuasive essay. The English courses also taught me how powerful the written word and language can be. Writing had always been one of my weaknesses, but it was challenging to take that initial step past the high school, five-paragraph essay form that constricted my ideas for so long. I know that my ability to write and express my ideas, thoughts and knowledge have grown stronger this semester. I have always struggled to put my thoughts on paper in a manner that is coherent and correct according to the assignments. I felt like my style is better because it’s one of my strong points that really helped developed and well written essay but I still struggle in grammar like mechanism and run off sentences. Other than this, I can’t think of any other strength I discovered. I don’t think of myself as egotistical, but honestly I am pretty happy with the way I am and find it hard to think of strengths I don’t already possess. My college experience thus far has also been uninspiring for me; not just this class. I came here hoping to have my eyes and ears opened and to be able to see things differently in the world, but so far this has not happened and it’s looking as if it’s only getting harder for it to happen. The highlights of the course for me would probably be the creative part of writing because English 1101 basically focused on creative writing rather writing about something else other than yourself. I enjoy expressing myself through art more so than I do in any other medium, so it was fun to be able to take my thoughts and feelings and turn them into a masterpiece. My expectations for the class are basically the same as my feelings I just recited in that I don’t
