After being apart of this class, I now feel that I have made an improvement in the acknowledgement I had for writing in a variety of ways. As I reflect back on the past couple of months, I noticed that our English 111 class has learned necessary skills to develop personal informative, and persuasive essays. I believe that because of this class, my whole perception toward writing has a loud me to fully understand what it takes to be a great writer. This class has aroused my interest in the literary world. In this class our course objectives that were required were to help us become more familiar with various types of writing. I have gained so much insight about my style and my writing habits. I learned a lot from class discussions and the readings that we were assigned to us. In the beginning I struggled especially with brainstorming and critiquing. Eventually, I started to learn on how to brainstorm. While using the brainstorming process I wrote down a very thorough outline complete with ideas of each paragraph to help me with my essays. I found it difficult when critiquing a classmates work especially since my work wasn’t the best at times. I believe that if I had spent more time with my writing assignments they could have been stronger pieces of writing. What really taught me to be a more effective writer was the fact that I had an audience. My classmates’ not only read my papers, but responded to them. Because of this I learned to keep my audience in my mind as I wrote my essays. This helped me to lead them through my essays without confusing or misleading them. I’ve learned a lot of new techniques in this class. I know this will help me in the future with my college papers. One of which is the MLA format. If it wasn’t for this class I would still be using the outdated version. Another technique is summarizing, in the beginning I would summarize too much. I would try not to miss any points. Staying focused on the main points was difficult for me. Although I have got a lot better about summarizing, I am still
