This portfolio is a compilation of the written works I completed in English 150 during the 2016 fall semester, all of which support my definite comprehension and execution of the course objectives. Consisting of four major papers and two short presentations, my portfolio explores the new methods I have learned as an undergraduate college student writer, the four main concepts of written, oral, visual and electronic composition of English 150. Over the course of sixteen weeks, the professionalism and effectiveness of my writing developed into that of a college student. As a class we read various pieces of writing, ranging from essays to short stories to websites that provided examples of how authors effectively portray their claims and themes, specifically through voice and angle. I demonstrate an exploration and adoption of authors’ techniques in the four major assignments, when I use many different effective techniques through written papers. While the four concepts, develop an eye for recognizing authors’ techniques, they also focus on analyzing and supporting those techniques with multiple kinds of evidence like through written papers, presentations, and communication. In this portfolio I use all of these assignments to illustrate the four main concepts. Every essay I have written this semester demonstrates that I have developed flexible strategies for revising and proofreading writing considering I edited every essay, using feedback from my classmates and instructor. The writing I completed throughout this fall semester is an ultimate demonstration of mastering the course objectives because each essay within my portfolio relates to at least one part of the four main concepts, proving that the skill described is both understood and implemented. An effective way to take on this process is to first brainstorm, research and explore, then create a rough draft, edit your draft, and then compose your final product. This particular course has taught me the importance of editing thoroughly and completely before finishing your final product. I have learned that one’s peers can be very helpful in finding mistakes, correcting any grammar issues, finding flaws, and providing suggestions to improve a paper. My peers, Danielle and Joe, have been proofreading my rough draft throughout the past weeks. They have been very helpful in finding grammatical errors in my papers and telling me to fix them in my final product. When one tries to proofread their own work, it is often very easy to skip on accidently not catch many issues that hinder the paper from reaching its full
