This is in anticipation for the English Language Arts and Head Wrestling Coaches positions at Van Horn High School. As a fifteen-year veteran of teaching I bring a teaching background of diverse experiences. I was accepted to the Masters Program at the University of Central Missouri and begin working towards my Masters of Science Degree in Education Technology Summer of 2017. This Spring I will complete 15 of the required 30 hours and hold a 3.67 GPA. My work on the Benchmark writing team has received district wide recognition for the improvement of relevance and rigor. Also, I worked alongside my fellow sophomore English Language Arts teachers to revamp and differentiating the curriculum to reflect common core standards and promote college and career readiness for students of low socio-economic needs, IEP’s, and high performing honors classes. Throughout my classroom I encourage students to assume an active responsibility for their own learning. My students collaborate frequently, reflected on the learning process, took responsibility for success and failure, and submitted their input on the design of the lessons. My students constantly knew what we were learning, why we were learning it, and how it can be applied outside the classroom. Another key part of my time spent at Ruskin included the implementation of the 1:1 program. Because of my background and willingness to incorporate technology in lessons many collogues and administrators used my classroom to pilot and demonstrate the latest educational technology.
