During the 1600-1700s, there were thinkers that had a major impact of the government of today. These thinkers were known as enlightened thinkers. I will be explaining what an enlightened thinker is. Who were famous enlightened thinker and their impact on government of today. Lastly i will explain the overall impact and how the thinkers in the end affected how we live today.

What is an enlightened thinker you might wonder. Someone who change government based on their ideas for better or worse. All through history there have been enlightened thinkers who have used their ideas to fix the government. Some of the times they didn't end up fixing the government but making it worse. Three of these thinkers were Benjamin franklin, John Locke, and Thomas Hobbes. Thomas hobbes was one of the very first enlightened thinkers. He pretty much kicked off enlightenment in England, by writing a book called Leviathan. The book gave some of Thomas’s theories which were that all humans are inherently selfish and evil, and some stuff on government and monarchy. Later in the 1600s-1700s came along John Locke. He was an English political theorist who focused on the structure of governments. He believed humans are rational and capable but must compromise their beliefs in forming the government for the people. The last of the Thinkers is Benjamin Franklin, the man on the one hundred dollar bill. He was an American thinker who traveled frequently between the American colonies and Europe. He created ideas from his travels like the exchange of ideas between Europe and the colonies. Also he exerted profound influence on the formation of the new government in the
