In the novel The Grapes of Wrath, written by John Steinbeck you see how the people and how the environment change. The changes within the people are different you have women finally getting a say just like ma Joad had done. Ma is introduced as a woman who knowingly and happily fulfills her role as the fortress of the family. She is the healer of the family’s ills and the arbiter of its arguments, and her ability to perform these tasks grows as the novel progresses.
