Hello, I’m Nicole Gieser and I’m going to present to you my PACE experiment. The leading complication I’ve been trying to resolve begins with, how temperature affects enzyme activity. Also, discovering what happens inside the enzymes is also the focus. When I first found this experiment I had no idea what I was doing. I definitely needed to research on some vocabulary. But, with many websites to define what I needed, I knew what my projects focus was really about. Moving on, my hypothesis was the next objective to accomplish. Which moves to what I predicted would happen in this experiment. Going back, a substrate molecule is a molecule in which they are the reactants involved in a biochemical reaction catalyzed by an enzyme. The higher the temperature of the enzymes’ surroundings, the faster the collisions happen, making the reaction rate faster. Again, my hypothesis was if the temperature of an enzyme-catalyst’s surroundings are increased, then the reaction rate will increase, because enzyme-catalysis reacts by randomly colliding with substrate molecules, and the higher the temperature the faster the collisions, or reaction rate. As I had previously mentioned, my data supports my hypothesis. In my hypothesis I mention that when the temperature is increased the reaction rate will increase. Continuing, in the tests conducted, the higher the temperature the faster the reactions happened. Next, its time to move on to the societal benefits for this experiment. Investigating the effect of enzymes based on temperature could help us further understand body processes, because enzymes are a big part of body functions and reactions. Continuing my last statement, we could also improve our knowledge on how medicines affect the body and how we can make them more
