An epic hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to endure overwhelming obstacles. In Edith Hamilton’s Mythology, three heros named Perseus, Theseus, and Hercules exhibit different traits that affect their journey in a positive or negative way. Perseus receives supernatural help, Theseus displays incredible strength, and Hercules has a fatal flaw that will end tragically, these qualities are what classify each as an epic hero.

A superhero would be described as someone with superhuman powers and who performs heroic deeds, such as Super Man. These two characters are perfect examples of an epic hero and superhero. The obvious similar traits of the two would be their superhuman strength, and their acts to risk their lives for the greater good.

Overall, Hector and Achilles had their major differences. Although they were similar in a few ways, most of their differences dominated the similarities. Even though they were both were the best warriors in the same war, both very well-known fighters for each of their own sides, the similarities mostly stopped there. They had different assumptions, strength and weaknesses, and roughly a whole different mindset. Though their demand for power and strength was strong in the end, their differences overrode their similarities and killed

Although the characteristics of an epic hero are under constant modification, Beowulf is still an effective modern-day hero due to his acts of courage, compassion, and dedication in relation to his people.
