Beowulf is a story that has an unknown author. It was written in 1000 AD as a poem and is known as the only manuscript that remains from that time period. The story is about a son of a Hygelac and Hygd, who comes to King Hrothgar to help with his needs. The Danes have an evil creature, Grendel, attacking their kingdom for the past 12 years. Beowulf goes with a group of thanes to fight off Grendel. Beowulf fights Grendel after traveling all day. Grendel grabs Beowulf, but Beowulf grabs back with all his might and Grendel lets him go. Beowulf rips Grendel’s arm from his shoulder and Grendel runs to the wilderness and then later dies.The thanes and Beowulf head back to the kingdom. They have a big celebration with mead in the mead hall and music.The Danes think they are safe, but really they aren’t. …show more content…

She goes to the Heorot Hall and basically destroys it. She then goes and finds warriors sleeping. Now when the warriors wake up, Grendel’s mother rushes back to her lair. Beowulf, his Geatish warriors, and some of the Danish warriors head out to find Grendel’s mother. Beowulf then dives into the lake and gets to the cave,where Grendel's mother and Beowulf take on each other in a one-on-one battle. The sword Beowulf had with him didn’t do much damage, so he grabs a sword from Grendel’s mother’s stash of treasures and uses it instead. That sword worked way better and then he slays her. The blade of the sword however, melts through her blood. Beowulf comes up from the water with the sword hilt and the head of his victim. The Danish warriors gave the victim up for dead, but the Geatish warriors are still waiting. The people have more gift-giving and partying for the second victim Beowulf
