Both Genesis and the epic of Gilgamesh are historic and every important pieces of literature. Both have influenced many stories since both of their respective creations. Many people have been influences by these two great pieces of work. With all of the differences in the two tales, they too have many similarities. Both talk about the infamous great flood, which brought destruction to the world, however, events do not correlate with one another. What stands out the most similarity is a man’s struggle after going against the gods and the repercussions that they had to face due to their actions. In the epic of Gilgamesh, a man by the name of Utnapishtim tells the main epic’s character, Gilgamesh of his tell of the great flood. Utnapishtim explains to Gilgamesh that the gods plotted to destroy humankind with a great flood. Furthermore, he told Gilgamesh that the god of wisdom, Ea, warned him of the destruction and his need to building an ark. Ea said to Utnapishtim, “Arise! Arise! Oh wall-like reeds. Adam was created in the image of god and along with him, a woman, Eve, too was created. Eve was created from one of Adam’s rib bones and were destined to live in The Garden of Eden together. God created the tree of knowledge of good and evil and warned both Eve and Adam to not eat the fruit from the tree. Even with god’s warning, both Adam and Eve would be influenced into eating the fruit from the tree. Upon doing so, god would walk upon the Garden of Eden and discovered they had eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God would say upon Adam, “Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever-“ (Genesis 3:22 Pg. 71-72) God then sent Adam away the Garden of Eden to live the rest of his days in
