Growing up I have always had a strong interest in science. I grew up in a family that were in the health industry. My aunt suggested I should go to school and work in medicine. I enrolled at my local community college. When I started college for my associate’s degree, I wanted to apply science with my passion for medicine. Once I obtained my associates degree, I realized I wanted to change direction on my career goal. I became fascinated with public health. It started I volunteered for my local Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Food and Nutrition Service. I wanted to find a long-term career in the public health sector. Though it is best to be certified through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology Inc. (Certification, n.d.)
