My father Zeke didn’t even care about me. All he did was give me a weird box, and told me I wasn’t allowed to open it. Then he kicked me out, and sent me to live with my new roommate, and now friend, Epimetheus. I thought I would eventually stop worrying about the bizarre box, but the thought of opening it kept creeping up until one day, my curiosity got the best of me. I woke up to the harsh sound of my alarm clock. I slowly sat up and rolled out of my warm bed, the smell of coffee wafting through my new apartment. Epimetheus is already up, I thought. I couldn’t stand it anymore, I needed to know what was in there. “John,” I mumbled, “I’m feeling sick and I need to go home.” It wasn’t entirely a lie because I was in fact feeling very sick at the moment. “Yes you can go home Pandora,” he said nodding his head,”you have already finished your work.” I nodded with immense gratitude, and walked swiftly out the doors and to my car. I sped all the way back to my apartment. When I got there, thankfully Epimetheus was not home yet, so I sprinted up the stairs to his room and flung his closet open. I have known where the box has been hidden for a couple years now, but Epimetheus hasn’t realized. I dug through the piles of clothes that were scattered around the floor, until I finally found the box. I brushed all the dust off the top to reveal an intricate design on the box. It was beautiful. I was immensely excited to open it, and see what was inside, but something inside of me said not to open it. I couldn’t just look at the outside of the box anymore, I had to know what was in there. I flung open the lid. A thousand waves of darkness screamed past my ears. I couldn’t see, and I couldn’t breathe. I was absolutely terrified. I clamped the lid down and held it, but it was too late.
