In 1923, the ERA written by Alice, was introduced into Congress. The Amendment declared “equal rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the US or by any State on account of sex” (“Woman Suffrage”, 2014, para 1). The Amendment was introduced into every Congress through 1972, where it finally passed but failed ratification in 1982. Only 35 states ratified the Amendment by the 1982 deadline. After the failure, the Amendment was again presented to Congress every year, but still fails to get passed.
The topic of equality among all Americans has been debated for hundreds of years. In 1892 the landmark case of Plessy v Ferguson made the Supreme Court. A major precedent was set in this case that would be used for many years to come. This precedent would continue to be abided by for around six decades. However before all of that happened in 1890 a monumental statue was passed by the state of Louisiana.
Since there was many educational opportunities for women it began to lead more and more women to find their potential meaningful of their individual professional career. Also women 's salaries increased but not to the amount that men received. Even though women did not quite make as much as men do, it still felt like a huge accomplishment because it was much better circumstances than they had before. In 1972 the Equal Rights Amendment passed which lingered around congress for nearly fifty-five years. The wording of the ERA was simply understood: “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.”

The passing of this law saw all employees get treated equally, and the biases that existed ended. Its legislation led to the reduction in the rate of unemployment in organizations. Discrimination based on sex preferences has been the major challenge and this drove the women rights movement to stress for the legislation of the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (Aiken, Salmon, & Hanges, 2013.) Equality for Women Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s “Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions” set a strong foundation that began the movement towards equality for women. Since her declaration was first presented at the Seneca Falls Convention, there has been considerable improvement in women’s rights. Although most issues she originally brought up have been resolved, there are a few that still need improvement, including the wage gap between men and women, representation in the workforce, and self-image of women. One big issue that remains prominent today in the United States is the gender wage gap, where men are making quite a bit more money that women.

An Equal Right amendment was first passed by women political party in 1923. It didn’t pass and it took four decades for a revival into congress. It seemed like it was going to be passed back in 1971 when it was approved by ⅔ vote from the House of Representatives in October of that year.
The gap between men and women during the 20th century was something that should not have existed in the first place. However, once the Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed it did not only benefit African Americans but it also benefited women when it comes to decreasing the gap between men and women. According to Document 6, Deborah G. Felder displayed the representation of the Equal Pay Act of 1963. This Act decreased the gap between men and women to under 25 percent. Now women are allowed to be president of companies and being an officer in the military.
There is discrimination; women and different races aren’t treated equally. Activists Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan Sparrow, and Harriet Tubman, along with many others, take this problem to solve from different “sides.” Stanton working mainly for women rights, Sparrow working for equal payment, and Tubman working mainly for slavery abolishment. This caused problems as the different women's organizations had different opinions on women's freedom meant. There was fear that the amendment would cause women to lose some rights.
Equality has been a problem in many nations for centuries. Since the start of time, it has been believed that men are far more superior to women and that the rights of women should be limited. In many countries today, it is the social norm for women to have limited rights including the right to voice their opinions. All around the world women have had no say in who runs their country, or in decisions that affect them. The United States had this same problem until women stood up and fought for their right to vote.

I support the Equal Rights Amendment. Although many women did not support the ERA they believed that if congress were to pass this amendment they would people would expect too much of them and include other individuals as well. It may be 2018, but the gender pay gap is still here, why is that? Women have been and still are getting a lower pay than men to do the same job. Women are doing equal if not more work, but somehow make less. The following paragraphs will explain what is happening today like the fact that over time men 's pay increases more than women 's does. Besides that I will also mention that not just white women make less than men other cultures make even less than them, and I also will share real people speaking up about them being paid less than men.
We all know that women didn 't have as many rights as men, and they still don 't. Women can now do more than they used to, but they still aren 't equal with men. They have had to fight for so many things like the right to vote and to be equal to men. The 19th amendment, the one that gave women the right to vote, brought us a big step closer. The Equal Rights Movement also gave us the chance to have as many rights as men. Women have always stayed home, cleaned the house, and didn 't even get an education.
