Animal testing was found during Ancient Greece. Erasistratus was an expert in the subject of anatomy. During 304-258 BCE, Erasistratus started doing his first analysis of animals, along with Galen or better known as “The father of vivisection”, who was a very well-known physician. Galen and Erasistratus were not the only ones to test on animals, Avenzoar was the first person to introduce animal testing as an experiment to proceed surgeries first on animals before actually doing them on humans. So, for many years this animal examination has been going on. Many people all over the world have debated on whether we should proceed with animal testing. William Russell and Rex Burch published this seminal book in response to marked growth in medical and veterinary research and the concomitant increase in the numbers of animals used (Catriona J. MacCallum).” However, the article talks about how animals have laws that protect animals during these brutal investigations. But, how can these laws be helpful is they are being abused, these rules that supposedly protect animals are so useless.
